There are several tools every good chef should have in the kitchen, this much I am wholly certain. Every chef needs a trusty saber by their side, a chef’s knife sharper than Anderson Cooper on too much Adderall. A proper knife gives you complete control over what you chop, how you slice, and ultimately, can make or break your meal preparation. A good chef’s knife will last a very long time, if kept in good condition (clean, sharpened periodically, away from the hands of curious toddlers. Second of all, a chef needs a righthand person, a chef known as sous by all on the culinary battlefield. Who else but a sous chef can handle the day to day operations of the kitchen when the head chef is running errands? The Chef de Partie? Are you actually joking right now? As second-in-command, they’re responsible for everything the Chef de Cuisine (head chef) can’t get to.

This Fire Really Sucks
As it stands, two massive fires have reaped havoc on both ends of California. In the north, the Camp Fire (painfully ironic) has burned 108,000 acres and taken the lives of 23 people. The Woolsey Fire in Los Angeles has killed two people and burned over 84,000 acres, including the summer camp I spent ten years of my life attending. Experts are saying that climate change is the main suspect for these fires, and President Trump tweeted his feelings on the natural disasters in California.
“There is no reason for these massive, deadly, and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor. Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of the gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments.”

Many have criticized Trump’s tweets as being insensitive and misguided, given that natural disasters are a product of climate change or arson, the latter of which is not what caused the two fires in California.
Florida, You Done Messed Up Again?
Anyone knowledgeable of recent American political history knows that Florida is not the first place you think of when asked for the name of an honest campaign battleground. Following the US midterm elections last week, Florida’s gubernatorial race between Republican Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum, which was lost by the latter candidate with a margin of 0.41 percentage points, Florida electoral officials ordered an official recount.
As for the reasoning behind the recount, officials say ballots and voting machines were tampered with and votes weren’t accurately counted.
The Wonderful Conglomerate of Disney (DIS)
Mickey Mouse just signed a deal to acquire 21st Century Fox (FOX) for the reasonable price of $52 billion, and with that comes a 60% controlling stake in Hulu, popular streaming site and Netflix’s (NFLX) key competitor in the industry. According to recent reports, Disney’s (DIS) deal was only approved because the company agreed to sell Fox’s sports networks that compete with Disney-owned ESPN (DIS), at the risk of a monopoly in the sports network market.
Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, spoke to several media outlets about Disney’s announcement to launch its own streaming app, ‘Disney+.’
