If you’re going to continue to live life to the fullest, or if you haven’t been doing so and would like a change of pace, listen to me. There are certain things that you simply cannot be caught dead doing if you want to be respected/taken seriously. First and foremost, when ordering coffee at a restaurant or coffee shop, never order one of those sugary, vanilla, pumpkin-spiced drinks. You can order a coffee or a latte, but that’s it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve witnessed someone order one of those unicorn lattes that has more chemicals than the periodic table of elements. It’s a travesty of justice. Second, always hold the door for the person behind you, regardless of their perceived gender. It’s not chivalry, it’s common courtesy you mannerless swine. I’ll save my other nuggets of wisdom for a later date, but those two should suffice for now.
Here’s what you missed in the news yesterday.
Tis’ The Season For New Headquarters, Fa La La La
It seems like only yesterday that Amazon (AMZN) had the world hyperventilating with anticipation in regards to where they planned on building their two new campuses. The online marketplace, which sells quite literally everything you could dream of, chose Queens, NY and Arlington, Virginia for its new homes, but you already knew that!
Less than a week after Apple’s (AAPL) announcement to build out their new home in the Lone Star State, Google (GOOGL) announced plans to invest $1 billion for a project to develop a new campus at Hudson Square in New York on Monday. The global search engine already employs 7,000 Googlers in New York, and the new campus will hopefully double that number over the course of the next ten years.
“Today we’re taking the next step in our commitment to our New York City presence by investing over $1 billion in capital improvements to establish a new campus, Google Hudson Square. When we came to New York City almost two decades ago, it was our first office outside of California. It’s now home to more than 7,000 employees, speaking 50 languages, working on a broad range of teams including Search, Ads, Maps, YouTube, Cloud, Technical Infrastructure, Sales, Partnerships, and Research.”

Will The Government Shutdown Please Stand Up?
American citizens are concerned with the fate of the federal government as President Trump has threatened several times that if the Democrats fail to approve his $5 billion funding request for the wall built along the US-Mexico border, he will shut down the federal government. According to several political analysts, if the federal government is indeed shut down from operations, governmental departments crucial to the everyday survival of low-income families and individuals will suffer the consequences. In anticipation of a federal government shutdown, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue issued a public statement informing Americans, namely those that rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, on how the USDA will make its services available in the event of a shutdown.
“USDA is committed to safeguarding life and property through the critical services we provide – and should the government shutdown, we will continue to do just that. I am proud of each USDA employee for everything they do to benefit the farmers, ranchers, foresters, and producers who depend on our services. It is their mission each day to fulfill our USDA motto, ‘Do right and feed everyone.”
