Remember that scene from “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” where Mr. Wonka tours the children around the factory and they arrive at the hallway with flavored wallpaper? “The strawberries taste like strawberries, the snozberries taste like snozberries!” The most ingenious candy maker in the world invested what I would assume as millions in walls you can taste. Weird…

Anyway, here’s what you missed in the news yesterday.

Oompa Loompa, Doopity Do! The Drug Cartel Tunnel Has Solar Panels, Too!

This week, reports surfaced from U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials who say they uncovered an “incomplete tunnel connecting Mexico and the U.S. that was outfitted with solar panels, lighting, ventilation, and a rail system that could carry illegal immigrants, arms dealers, and drug smugglers into the United States,” according to Fox News.

The tunnel, locked in Baja California, Mexico, was a mere 221 feet south of the U.S. border.

“Sophisticated tunnels take a lot fo time and money to make. When we find them, they’re a pretty big deal.”

What surprises me is that with all the technology in and around the tunnel, no one thought to build something to hide the tunnel from Border Patrol agents.

Kanye Visits the “West” Wing

It is true, Kanye West met with President Trump at the White House, and they enjoyed a delicious lunch. In shocking news, the entire White House press core was invited to attend the meeting held in the Oval Office. The topics discussed varied from criminal justice reform, and job opportunities for ex-convicts, to Kanye’s own apparel brand, Yeezy.

Throughout the entire meeting, Kanye proudly donned his “Make America Great Again” five-paneled cap. After watching the full video of the meeting, I can summarize what I heard.

  • Kanye is moving back to Chicago for multiple reasons, one of which is to bring social change
  • He loves President Donald Trump and sees him as someone with “male energy” that he didn’t have access to growing up. “My dad and my mom separated,” West said, “so there was not a lot of male energy in my home and also I’m married to a family where, you know, there’s not a lot of male energy.”
  • “Racism” cannot control Kanye
  • “Another thing is black people have a problem with the word again…because time is a myth”

Most importantly, West encouraged the President to support the implementation of mental health and arts programs for children, and insisted that violence on the streets is a product of illegal guns, not legal guns, NBC reports.

Somewhere Under The Sea, We’ll Eat So Happily

Once you get that song out of your head, listen to this. Approximately five meters below the surface of the North Sea, near the southernmost tip of Norway, sits the first underwater restaurant in Europe, and it is almost complete. According to CNN, the 110-foot structure, which looks like a large sunken periscope, was officially submerged last July work is near-complete on the interior.

The restaurant, named Under, was designed by Snøhetta, a Norwegian architecture firm, famous for the Oslo Opera House, the National September 11 Memorial Pavilion and the renovation of Times Square.

CNN reports that when the restaurant is complete, it will accommodate approximately 100 guests, and will offer a 36 feet wide panoramic window, allowing for stunning views of the ocean and its sea life.
