Do you ever feel like a plastic bag, drifting through the wind, wanting to start again? Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin, like a house of cards, one from blowing in? Do you ever feel already buried deep six feet-under, screaming but no one seems to hear a thing? If you can relate to any one of these symptoms, you may be suffering from perrioisis. It’s a very serious ailment caused by an early exposure to the song-stylings of Katy Perry and, at this point in modern medicine, it is absolutely untreatable. But did you know that there’s still chance for you, because there’s a spark in you? You’ll need to ignore the light and let it shine. Make sure you own the night like the Fourth of July.
Because baby…you’re a firework. Here’s what you missed in the news this weekend.
When You’ve Got It, Flaunt It
Former Mayor of New York and Bruce Wayne-like billionaire Michael Bloomberg announced that he is planning on donating $1.8 billion to Johns Hopkins University in support of the school’s financial aid offerings for low-income students. According to CBS news, Bloomberg’s planned endowment represents the largest contribution to a US educational institution in the history of the country. Rather than offer incoming students various loan packages, the university will instead offer scholarships that don’t have to be repaid.
“My Hopkins diploma opened up doors that otherwise would have been closed, and allowed me to live the American dream. I want to be sure that the school that gave me a chance will be able to permanently open that same door of opportunity for others. Denying students entry to a college based on their ability to pay undermines equal opportunity. It perpetuates intergenerational poverty.”

Brick by Brick
Elon Musk is one wacky dude, but when you’re worth billions and launch rockets into space and build subterranean tunnels in your free time, people start to pay attention. When Musk started The Boring Company and sold flamethrowers, everyone was astounded at both the name of the company and its bold mission to build hyperloop tunnels and what not. Musk filed paperwork in July for a new company, called The Brick Store LLC, which according to official filings, will produce and sell bricks to the public.
In September, Musk tweeted that the “first boring brick store would open in 2 months. Only 10 cents a brick! Rated for California seismic loads.” If this is true, The Brick Store will allow for low-income housing development at incredibly affordable costs.
Hold Your Fire
According to recent reports, over the weekend, Houthi rebels in Yemen finally decided that they are ready to end their attacks on Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and others in the region.
“After our contacts with the U.N. envoy and his request to stop drone and missile strikes…We announce our initiative…to halt missile and drone strikes on the countries of aggression.”
-“Mohammaed Ali al-Houthi
For those unaware of what has been going down in Yemen, the country as we know it formed back in 1990, with North and South Yemen making the agreement. However, once this decision was made, civil war immediately broke out between people in each respective area who were upset with the union. Speeding up to present time, the Houthi rebels, led by Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, are upset with President Hadi’s governing style, hence the violence and drone strikes.
