On June 6, 2019 , Liberty provided an in-depth understanding of HEXWAVE and its four subsystems:

Antenna Array and Transceiver (captures real-time data)
3D Radar Image Generation (converts captured data into 3D radar images)
AI and Deep Learning (interprets the data and 3D radar images to detect threats)
Smart Interface Functionality (provides connectivity to existing security systems)

Following the completion of the HEXWAVE prototype, which was demonstrated at Liberty’s Center of Excellence in Atlanta, GA , on September 26 , the company has continued to advance the speed and efficiency of the real-time 3D imaging. The achievement of active real-time 3D imaging, created from 400,000 data points in the Liberty Defense labs using the HEXWAVE prototype, is a significant milestone. Machine learning models are trained using this 3D imaging and data to make its prediction about the weapons or non-threatening objects. The completion of hardware systems (Antenna Array, Transceiver, CPU/GPU) and software for acquiring the data used to create real-time images further de-risks HEXWAVE’s program.

VANCOUVER and ATLANTA , Nov. 7, 2019 /CNW/ – Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. (“Liberty”) (TSXV: SCAN, FRANKFURT : LD2, OTCQB: LDDFF), a leading concealed weapons detection company, is pleased to announce that it has arranged a non-brokered private placement of up to 10,870,000 units (“Units”) at a price of C$0.23 (the “Unit Price”) for aggregate gross proceeds of up to approximately C$2,500,000 (the “Offering”). Liberty will retain the option to increase the Offering to 15,217,000 Units for gross proceeds of up to approximately C$3,500,000 .

Each Unit will consist of one common share and one common share purchase warrant (a “Warrant”), with each whole Warrant entitling the holder to purchase one additional common share of the Company at a price of C$0.30 for 18 months following the closing of the Offering. The Warrants will be subject to an acceleration clause in the event the closing price of Liberty’s common shares is greater than C$0.45 for 10 consecutive trading days (the “Acceleration Event”). Liberty will give notice to the holders of the Acceleration Event and the Warrants will expire 30 days thereafter.

In connection with the Offering, Liberty has engaged Laurentian Bank Securities Inc. to act as its exclusive financial advisor for the Offering. The Company may pay finder’s fees in accordance with the policies of the TSX Venture Exchange in conjunction with the closing of the Offering.

The Company intends to use the net proceeds of the Offering to provide working capital and continue the advancement of HEXWAVE, specifically the targeted completion of the Alpha testing and the production of the initial Beta Units in Q1 2020.

The other biotech stock that has been soaring since last Thursday is the Agile Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:AGRX) The women’s healthcare company announced on October 31 that its contraceptive product Twirla has been given a favorable vote by an advisory committee of the United States Food and Drugs Administration.

 Soon after the announcement, the trading volume of its shares zoomed to as much as 46.3 million shares and that is significantly higher than its average trading volume of 2.3 million shares. Since then, the stock has soared by as much as 400% and it goes without saying that this is a stock that should definitely be tracked by investors.

PharmaCyte Biotech (PMCB) Closer to Submitting IND by Successfully Completing Encapsulation of Second Manufacturing Run of Clinical Trial Product

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– PharmaCyte Biotech, Inc. (OTCQB: PMCB), a biotechnology company focused on developing cellular therapies for cancer and diabetes using its signature live-cell encapsulation technology, Cell-in-a-Box®, is closer to submitting an Investigational New Drug application (IND) to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). PharmaCyte announced today that its partner, Austrianova Singapore (Austrianova), has successfully completed encapsulation of the cells from PharmaCyte’s Master Cell Bank (MCB) in the second of two staggered and back-to-back manufacturing runs for the production of PharmaCyte’s clinical trial product. This product will be used for PharmaCyte’s planned clinical trial in patients with locally advanced, inoperable pancreatic cancer (LAPC).

PharmaCyte’s Chief Executive Officer, Kenneth L. Waggoner, commented, “The encapsulation process was performed last week at Austrianova’s manufacturing facility in Thailand. After reviewing the first pictures of the encapsulated cells, we’re confident that this manufacturing run is progressing as well as our first successful manufacturing run.

“We are anxiously awaiting the completion of the second of the two back-to-back manufacturing runs and the results from the FDA required testing on each of those runs. Once the information from that testing is available, it will be incorporated into our Investigational New Drug application (IND) for submission to the FDA.”

Most of the work needed for PharmaCyte to submit an IND to the FDA has been completed. The rate limiting factor is and always has been for Austrianova to complete successfully two back-to-back manufacturing runs. During PharmaCyte’s recent shareholder update call, the company reported on Austrianova’s work to encapsulate successfully PharmaCyte’s genetically modified human cells that will be used to treat patients suffering from LAPC.

After months of extensive research and development (R&D) by a team of experts from Austrianova and PharmaCyte, a total of eight different changes were made to the manufacturing process. It was not until the eighth and final change was made that the encapsulated cells grew as well in Austrianova’s manufacturing facility in Thailand as they grew at Austrianova’s R&D facility in Singapore.

Once the recently encapsulated cells in this second of two manufacturing runs have completely filled the capsules, they will be placed into PharmaCyte’s clinical trial syringes and then frozen. A representative sample of those syringes will be thawed and undergo the FDA required “release testing.” All “release testing” related to safety of the encapsulated cells is being outsourced by PharmaCyte to independent third-party laboratories in Europe. All “release testing” related to functionality of the encapsulated cells is being handled by Austrianova at its GMP facility in Thailand.
